Well towards the middle/end of the book, Zarphod, Arthur, and Ford began to look for the answer of life. After going through hell to find it, they stumbled across the large shrine kind of place where the answer was located. It was a computer statue guy thing, and apparently it didnt have the answer. Later on, Arthur still manages to discover the answer... and surprisingly it is a number. What kind of answer to life is a number? I dont want to say what number it is as I might spoil the book, but seriously... makes no sense
Book was really good... but really nonsensical, obviously thats how it was intended but really.... people cant be that stupid and things just.... cant be that stupid.

dude this book is amazing and it isn't suposed to make sense, ive read it and common the computer was asked to give them the answer to life, the universe and everything else but those girls or whatever didnt ask for anything specific how should the comp know? 42 was a brilliant answer and marvin is awesome except being depressed and all....
